A Very Personal Intersection

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

This week I had to have new photos taken for the back cover flap for The Go-Giver, which is coming out in hardcover right after Christmas.

So: two day ago, Ana calls a local photographer (whom neither of us has ever met before) and makes a date for the next day. The next morning (yesterday), shuttermeister Robert Tobey calls me up and says he’s running a little late at his morning shoot in Springfield (Mass., not the Simpsons one); we push our date back an hour.

When I get there, I find that Robert is a most gracious, intelligent guy and very good at what he does. He also displays a serious penchant for serendipity. He tells me that while en route home from that Springfield shoot he happened to notice a street sign so striking, he had to stop his car, get out and take a few snaps:

I am thinking, Whoa, this photographer is tuned in!

Cameron Johnson in the news, JDM on talk radio

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

An article in MSNBC’s Entrepreneur.com entitled “The Time Is Now” opens with two paragraphs on Cameron Johnson. (Subtitle: “Yes, you can build a million-dollar business while you’re still in college.”) Eight months after its launch, You Call the Shots is continuing to generate quite a bit of buzz.

And in other news (ahh . . . I’ve always wanted to say that!), John Mann (i.e., me) is going to be a guest on the Radio Colorado Network (also streaming live on the Internet) this Saturday morning, talking live about his (my) new book The Zen of MLM. (Read more and get details over at the Zenblog.)

Brew a cup of sencha and pull up a tatami!

“Nouveau CEOs”

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

Last post I said Cameron was “back”—and sure enough, here’s proof: a new article just came out in Virginia Business magazine entitled “Nouveau CEOs,” with the subhead: “These young, web-savvy entrepreneurs are creating their own corner offices.” It’s a fun piece, worth the read.

The paperback edition of You Call the Shots comes out in mid-September, and we expect a veritable flurry of media activity this fall. (I won’t report on every last outing, but will stick to hitting the high points.)

Keep following closely, though: later in the year, we’re going to have some announcements about the book and Cameron’s next gig that will knock your socks off!
